Who We Are

Located in southeastern Delaware County, the William Penn School District serves approximately 5,000 students who live in the six communities of Aldan, Colwyn, Darby, East Lansdowne, Lansdowne, and Yeadon Boroughs.  Our eight elementary schools, which serve students in Kindergarten through the sixth grade, are as follows: Aldan Elementary, Ardmore Avenue Elementary, Bell Avenue Elementary, Colwyn Elementary, East Lansdowne Elementary, Evans Elementary, Park Lane Elementary, and Walnut Street Elementary..

Our secondary schools are Penn Wood Middle School (grades 7 and 8), Penn Wood Ninth Grade Academy (grade 9) and Penn Wood High School – Green Avenue Campus (grades 10, 11, and 12). 

The William Penn School District also offers: Alternative education through a variety of programs; Customized  accelerated learning options through our Blended Schools program; and an alternative to the traditional brick-and-mortar school setting through the William Penn School District Cyber Academy Program.

William Penn School District Administrative Organization

The William Penn School District is governed by a nine member elected Board of School Directors. The Board of School Directors by majority vote appoints a Superintendent of Schools for a three (3) to five (5) year term to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the school district, responsible for the day to day management and supervision.  There are central office and building level administrators who supervise and manage various programs and schools to assist the Superintendent of Schools in providing instruction, programs, and services to the students, staff, parents and community. 

The organizational structure is subject to change and will be reviewed annually to ensure that the William Penn School District is operating in the most effective and practical means for the delivery of services and programs.
